Animal Fleas such as cat fleas and dog fleas can cause concern when found in the home. Flea control is simple to effect when pets are present in the property, and usually only requires one pest control treatment. If you have no pets at the property, treatment may take longer due to the fleas entering a dormant state whilst awaiting the return of an animal, also be aware that if you have bare floorboards, treatment will be more difficult because the fleas are then able to breed under the floor out of reach of the chemical (in this instance up to 3 or even 4 treatments may be required to gain control.)Control of fleas is best carried out using a liquid insecticide such as Pro-Active-C but for the enironmentally sensitive, powders such as diatomaceous earth can be used effectively as a flea killer. We believe you need to treat the whole property when fleas are around because it is not certain they will be contained in one area. Vac first, then apply flea spray to all carpeted floor surfaces and round the edge of lino/laminate floors. Treat animal resting places and if the cat rests on a windowsill, spray that too. Some great information on Flea Control
